Meyer to coach final game at Sugar Bowl

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Urban Meyer, who was admitted to a hospital because of chest pains following the Southeastern Conference championship game, is stepping down because of health concerns.

Meyer resigned Saturday, calling it quits after five seasons in Gainesville and two national titles. He goes into the bowl game with a 56-10 record at Florida that includes a 32-8 mark in league play and a school-record 22-game winning streak ended early this month against Alabama.

Meyer, 45, says...

he consulted with his family, his doctors, school president Bernie Machen and athletic director Jeremy Foley before deciding it is in his best interest to focus on his health and family.

Meyer has been to the hospital at least twice since suffering chest pains after the SEC title game, a Florida source told ESPN. The heart problems are stress related, not congenital, a source close to the situation told ESPN.

The problem is not life threatening, a Florida source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The same source said Meyer will remain in Gainesville in a non-coaching role to be defined later.

Meyer will hold a news conference in New Orleans on Sunday afternoon and will coach his final game in the Allstate Sugar Bowl against Cincinnati on New Year's Day.

"I have given my heart and soul to coaching college football and mentoring young men for the last 24-plus years and I have dedicated most of my waking moments the last five years to the Gator football program," Meyer said in a statement. "I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to reevaluate my priorities of faith and family.

"After consulting with my family, Dr. Machen, Jeremy Foley and my doctors, I believe it is in my best interest to step aside and focus on my health and family."

"Coach Meyer and I have talked this through and I realize how hard this was for him to reach this decision," Foley said in a statement. "But, the bottom line is that Coach Meyer needed to make a choice that is in the best interest of his well being and his family. I certainly appreciate what he has meant to the University of Florida, our football program and the Gator Nation. I have never seen anyone more committed to his players, his family and his program. Above all, I appreciate our friendship."

A tireless recruiter and creative motivator, Meyer came to Florida from Utah in fall 2004 amid speculation he would end up at Notre Dame.

Meyer brought most of his staff with him -- some of whom worked with him at Bowling Green (2001-02) and Utah (2003-04). Together, they restored the program to national prominence two years later with the school's second national championship.

The Gators upset Ohio State 41-14 in Glendale, Ariz.; they won another one last January by beating Oklahoma 24-14 in Miami.

With just about his entire team returning this fall, Meyer spent all season coaching under intense pressure and sky-high expectations. He said he welcomed it all as the defending national champions tried to become the second team in the last 14 years to repeat.

But the season was far from smooth. Florida dealt with distraction after distraction, prompting Meyer to call it "the year of stuff."

It included preseason talk about perfection; flulike symptoms that ravaged the team; Tim Tebow's concussion; opposing fans hijacking cell phone numbers; facing former assistant Dan Mullen; linebacker Brandon Spikes' eye-gouging incident; Meyer's hefty fine for criticizing officials; defensive end Carlos Dunlap's drunk-driving arrest; a few controversial calls; some close games; and what seemed to be a season-long offensive slump.

Indeed, the Gators went through just about everything in 2009. Still, the loss to Alabama was the most crushing blow -- until this.

The Crimson Tide derailed Florida's perfect season and left Meyer in a Gainesville hospital. Team officials initially said he was treated and released for dehydration. But players and coaches later said Meyer had chest pains. Meyer refused to talk about his hospital stay, but acknowledged that he needed to take better care of himself.

"He puts a lot on himself and he cares a lot and he takes a lot of the burden on himself," Tebow said last week. "That's something we talk about a lot. You've got to take care of yourself. Although we're both very passionate, you can't always let it all feel like everything is on your chest.

"And I think he's doing a better job of doing that. But when you have guys kind of not doing the right thing and you get beat in a game like that, it can weigh on you a little bit. I think he felt a little bit of that. But I think he's doing a little bit better now, though."

Meyer has a wife and three children -- the oldest recently started college at Georgia Tech -- and has said repeatedly he would never stay in coaching long enough to be like Florida State's Bobby Bowden or Penn State's Joe Paterno.

Nonetheless, his tenure will be remembered.

"He leaves a lasting legacy on the field, in the classroom and in the Gainesville community," school president Bernie Machen said. "I am saddened that Urban is stepping down, but I have deep respect for his decision."

Potential successors to Meyer could include Oklahoma's Bob Stoops, Boise State's Chris Petersen, Arkansas' Bobby Petrino, who was the other top candidate in 2004 when Meyer got the job, former Florida Gator and Super Bowl-winning NFL coach Mike Shanahan and former Meyer assistants Dan Mullen and Charlie Strong. Former Florida offensive coordinator Mullen just finished his first season as head coach at Mississippi State. Defensive coordinator Strong was named the head coach at Louisville earlier this month.

Louisville media relations director Rocco Gasparro said Saturday night that Strong had signed a term sheet with the school, but not a formal contract. It is unclear whether the term sheet would be a sticking point should the Gators turn to Strong to replace Meyer.

Apple’s rumored tablet to be named iSlate?

Some slick domain name and trademark sleuthing from MacRumors and TechCrunch uncovered information about several islate-containing domains and the companion trademark “ISLATE” that may point to Apple as the company behind this mark. It all began with MacRumors which uncovered information about the domain islate.com, a TLD that passed through several hands until 2007 where it landed with the registrar MarkMonitor, a well-known registrar that handles and hides domain registrations for large companies including Apple. Close inspection of the domain name history reveals a brief lapse in late 2007 which exposed Apple as the actual owner of the domain. A look at other TLDs reveals that MarkMonitor also registered islate.co.uk, islate.biz, islate.info, islate.jp and islate.cn in the month of November 2006. Other country designations such as, islate.de and islate.fr, don’t fit into the puzzle as they are registered to known companies with islate.de being registered to a Innovative Dynamics GmbH and islate.fr being registered to the IP property law firm of Wilson & Bertherlot. The mystery deepens when one takes a look at the “ISLATE” trademark information uncovered by TechCrunch, though...

Moving away from the domain information and looking at the trademark information, an unknown Delaware company called Slate Computing filed a trademark the word ISLATE on November 21, 2006 in both the US and the EU. Listed on the EU application was the legal representative Edwards, Angell, Palmer & Dodge, a law firm with a history of working with Apple. Also curious is the priority company listed on the EU application — Trinidad & Tobago, a country used by Apple in other EU trademarks applications. Slate Computing seemingly does not appear to exist online or in real life but the extensive business description provided on the trademark application fits Apple to a tee, leading TechCrunch to hypothesize that the mysterious company is a shell for Apple. Piecing everything together, Apple, either through MarkMonitor or a shell company called Slate Computing, may have registered a series of iSlate TLDs and filed a trademark for “ISLATE” in both the EU and the US. BGR readers with an opinion chime in and let us know what you think — is Apple behind all this activity surround the name “islate”? Is iSlate really destined to be the name of the rumored tablet? We’re not feeling the name one way or another.

f(x) and M.I.C for LG Lollipop in China

After the massive success LG had with the release of their Lollipop cellphone with the help of the Big Bang + 2NE1 combo earlier this year, it seems as though the company wants to try their luck with the same produect overseas in China!

However, instead of the YG family combination, SM Entertainment's fresh girl group f(x) and up and coming Chinese boy group M.I.C will be teaming up to promote the phone. Now, we're all very familiar with the ladies of f(x), but what about this boy group?

Well, M.I.C consists of 6 boys that have gone through 3 years of intense training under the established Chinese record label, Tai Rey. After enlisting the help of several American choreographers and the best Chinese songwriters, M.I.C was born. Much like 2NE1, these boys will be making their debut through this CF for LG's Lollipop in China, with f(x) acting as the "Big Bang" figure of sorts, if you want to make comparisons.

While the boys themselves seem like fairly talented guys and all that good stuff, by the looks of this behind-the-scenes video, it seems as though the CF to be released in China follows the same exact concept as YG family's Lollipop MV, overdosing on bright colors and eccentric wardrobe choices. However, what sets the two videos apart is the song. f(x) and M.I.C will be promoting a different version of Lollipop in Chinese! It's got a pretty infectious hook and you definitely don't need to know Chinese to sing along.

Wonder Girls to release a Chinese album next year

The Wonder Girls, who are currently promoting in the U.S., are set to release an album in China early next year.

Wonder Girls have already been well-received by China - they were awarded the "Best Asian Artist of the Year" award at the MTV Style Gala 2009 and also held a concert in Shanghai, China on December 1st for their Chinese fans. Judging by the fancams, it was quite a spectacle.

On the 24th, a representative of JYP Entertainment informed MoneyToday StarNews, "Currently, Wonder Girls have finished recording the Chinese version of their songs. The official Chinese album is scheduled to be released early next year."

The JYPE representative added,

"The other songs in their album have not been decided yet. However, their hit songs will have first priority."

A U.S. album slated for February 2010, a possible breakthrough in the U.K market (we hope, anyway), and now a Chinese album? At this rate, world domination looks very possible for the Wonder Girls.

Although Wonder Girls experienced an incredible amount of success in various countries during this year alone, they must also miss their own homeland.

2NE1 Interview: reveals their ideal type and a full album in the works

It's been quite a year for rookie group 2NE1, to say the least. Even before their debut, they received a lot of hype for being the "female Big Bang." Aside from winning a prestigious title like Mnet's "Artist of the Year," 2NE1 has proved through their solo activities that their popularity and talent are able to withstand on its own and still prosper. Needless to say, 2NE1 and Blackjacks have a lot to be proud of.

Judging by how far they have come, sometimes we forget that the fierce foursome only debuted several months ago. Before the YG ladies wrap up their activities for the end of the year, they partook in an interview held by Star News to reflect on the explosive success that has led them to this point. Check out the full translations of the interview below...

-All the members' solo singles have reached #1 at one point. What is your reaction and is there a specific music style you would like to experiment with in the future?
Sandara Park: Before the songs were released, we would be very nervous. However, many people enjoyed each track so we were able to gain more confidence as a result. It was also nice to reveal our own colors. Personally, I really want to perform a song like In the Club again, where we can showcase our singing plentifully.
Park Bom: After Dara released her solo single and reached #1, my solo single was revealed next. To be honest, I initially felt insecure. However, You and I received such a good response the moment it was released that I felt really good. I have always enjoyed a R&B style. I would like to try a nice mixture of hip-hop and R&B.
CL: It was nice being able to show different sides of us with our own performances. Lately, I've been interested in rock, so I would like to perform to a remix of hip-hop and rock music. I want to show a variety of different sides.
Gong Minzy: I was moved by all the love given to us during our individual activities. Personally, I would like to perform to a slow song while singing with a matching choreography.

-What is your reaction to the influx of different girl groups this year?
Sandara Park: There were many girl groups who made really deep impressions this year. They were all very cool too. Girl groups, fighting!
Gong Minzy: I remember all the names of the girl group members and their performances. That's how deep of an impression the girl groups made this year.

-If you were given a one-week break after finishing your year-end schedule, what would you do?
CL: I want to find a roomy place where I can develop my creativity. I would visit an art museum, read books, and listen to a lot of music. Oh, and CEO Yang even promised to send the four of us on a vacation to the same place after the year ends. I will trust that he still remembers the promise, haha.
Park Bom: I would go to Boston in America, where I grew up, to meet friends and have fun.
Sandara Park: I would probably go to the Philippines. During the one week, I want to watch movies with friends, eat and chatter nonstop.
Gong Minzy: I would contact those who I was unable to meet in a long time. Also, I would want to travel.
-Because the members of 2NE1 don't have boyfriends, many fans are curious to know your ideal types. What are they?
Park Bom: I like someone who will love only me. I don't look at the outer appearance so much.
CL: My ideal type is someone with a style like Chin oppa and Teddy oppa. I like someone who is cautious, works hard at what he does and listens well.
Sandara Park: Among celebrities, I like Won Bin's or Kang Dong Won's style. They both seem smooth on the outside, but are tough on the outside.
Gong Minzy: Someone who looks pretty while smiling and is cautious.
-What are your plans for next year?
Park Bom: Although we consulted with our company, our plans are still uncertain. However, it is very possible that 2NE1's first full album will be released early next year. When the album comes out, we really want to hold an independent concert.
CL: As we prepare for our full album, we hope to show a new image to everyone. Even it takes more time, our highest priority is to do our very best in ensuring that our first full album is flawless. Oh, and we revealed a musical concept during our special performance at '2009 MAMA.' If the opportunity arises, I would like us to expand on this field.
Sandara Park: When I went to the Philippines after debuting in 2NE1, I noticed a lot of people who imitated our song and clothing. Additionally, there were many people who asked me if the other members of 2NE1 came along too. Although there is no concrete plan as of now, if given the opportunity, I would like for 2NE1 to go to the Philippines as a group. Oh, and since I also have interest in acting, I think it would be fun to play a similar role to that of Han Ye Seul sunbaenim in "Couple of Fantasy." But, of course, activities with 2NE1 are my first priority right now.
Gong Minzy: Nothing is set in stone at the moment, but I will promise to show development from this year to the next.

New hip-hop trio: Chocotree

The year is almost over and we've had tons of debut groups... but there's still one more coming, just in time for the holidays! Under the name of Chocotree of the label group Naturally Music, this hip-hop trio just dropped their self-titled album today on the 23rd. Not much is known about the three except that the group consists of a female vocalist, DJ and rapper. We've been promised that the DJ will lay down a fresh new sound, the rapper's voice has unique yet familiar, and the female vocalist bears much similarity to Korean model Hwang Mi Hee.

Chocotree is debuting with their title track No Pain No Gain and has already released a music video. The video looks low quality and low budget but the song is quite addicting, don't you agree?...

SNSD’s Taeyeon has had fourteen male celebrity suitors

On the December 22 episode of SBS Strong Heart, Taeyeon revealed that fourteen male celebrities had expressed interest in her. One in particular gave her a great deal of stress.

Taeyeon explained...

"During practice, there was a missed call from an unknown number waiting for me. Initially, I thought it was a prank call so I disregarded it. Later, I received a text message that read, "I am __ oppa." He kept sending me text messages so, out of curiosity, I dialed his number using the office phone to confirm his true identity. It turned out that he really was the man that he claimed to be."

According to Taeyeon, he is a famous celebrity that can easily be identified by his name alone. However, she has never met him face-to-face before.

She continued,

"He told me that he happened to find my number and asked if it was okay for him to contact me. Of course, I consented because he has always been a sunbae much older than I am.

Despite him being a sunbae with a large age gap, he continued to contact me. He would send me texts like, 'Let's meet sometime' and 'I'll buy you some ice cream,' almost like a child abductor...

What was most upsetting, though, was the time when he called me in the middle of the night while he was drunk. He said he knew a lot about my private life by talking to the people around me. Hearing this, I grew really angry. I asked him, "Why are you being like this? There is no need for us to keep in contact any longer" and quickly hung up the phone. He replied a few weeks later with a text message that read, "If you plan on continuing your life as a celebrity, do you really think you can cut ties with me, just like that?"

Taeyeon's confession shocked viewers, including fellow SNSD member Seohyun who shared that it was her first time hearing it as well.

As she wrapped up the story, Taeyeon expressed that she received a huge shock from this ordeal and wished that the mystery man would not create such a tramautic experience anymore to other hoobaes in the future.

Returning to the subject of having fourteen male celebrity suitors, MC Kang Ho Dong asked, "Have your feelings wavered once for any of them?" To this, Taeyeon replied hesitantly, "Yes, there was one. He possessed a trait that I look for in an ideal man: wide shoulders. However, nothing happened between us."

Even if Taeyeon wanted to reciprocate her feelings for the man of interest, she couldn't possibly do so as she is not only a member but the leader of a ridiculously popular idol group. On the other hand, I'm sure many of you are curious to know who the mystery man with wide shoulders is. Super Junior leader Lee Teuk took a stab and narrowed the list down to Choi Heung Man, Park Tae Hwan, and Bob Sapp, but his guess is as good as yours.

T-ara to donate 50 boxes of toilet paper

We reported earlier about girl group T-ara receiving a truck load of toilet paper due to the similarities between the titles of T-ara's new hit, Bo Peep Bo Peep, and Kimberly-Clark's toilet paper brand, Poppee. So what does one do with that much toilet paper? I'd use it all up within a week, but T-ara had other plans in mind as they donated it all to a charity organization to help others.

The girls will also be donating a 100 boxes of ramen (a gift from another CF production) to the JTS (Join Together Society), an international organization devoted to the battle against starvation. This act of charity has influenced Hwang Jung Eum and SG Wannabe's Kim Yong Joon to donate profits from their song Couple.

T-ara said,

"We received a lot of toilet paper due to our song, and through our senior Hwang Jung Eum, we were able to find out about this organization. We're glad that we can help."

Taecyeon shut down access to his minihompy leaving the following message:

I wonder how these private photos were leaked."

Access to his public photos, diary and pretty much the entire minihompy has been disabled.

Fans of Taecyeon have been leaving messages of support:

"Who on earth would do such a thing... it's an invasion of privacy."
"Please don't be angry."

Following this recent action and despite his minihompy being closed down, as of late, there has already been 12,000 visitors to his minihompy.

DSP Entertainment's colorful girls of Rainbow debuted just last month and they've experienced some success with Gossip Girl. The pretty girls of Rainbow have their own show on MTV24 titled Rainbow and on the most recent episode, they showed off their dorm.

The girls have a very nice view from their dorm window. They also showed off their bunk beds, they also cooked some fried rice and delicious dduk bok gi.

Although it's not a penthouse, their dorm room seems very cozy. The girls all seem upbeat and happy, I wish them a lot of success in their careers.

Details of Hankyung’s case revealed

We previously reported that Hankyung of Super Junior filed a lawsuit in order to void his contract with SM Entertainment. The written accusation submitted argues that his contract with SME is unfair due to 6 reasons...

First, the accusation argues that SME was the dominant party in signing of the contract and thus it was written in their favor. When the contract was first signed in January 2003, Hankyung was only 17 years old and he did not have sufficient information on the Korean entertainment industry. Two updates made to the contract in February and December of 2007 were also led by SME and Hankyung had no choice but to accept what was offered by SME.

Second, the length of the contract is 13 years. When the contract was first signed, it was to last for 10 years after the release of Super Junior's first album. After the two updates, the length was extended to 13 years. The contract would last at least until December 2018, when Hankyung would become 34 years old. The contract extends automatically when Hankyung takes break for personal reasons, so the actual length could be much longer than 13 years. The accusation calls this a great invasion of Hankyung's basic human rights.

Third, the contract enforces heavy financial punishment in case of a breach of contract, preventing Hankyung from seeking release. If Hankyung was to breach the contract and move to another entertainment company, he has to compensate SME for 3 times what they invested in him and double what he would have earned for SME during remaining period of the contract. The accusation argues that this makes it impossible for Hankyung to leave SME.

Fourth, the terms on rights and division of responsibilities are unfair towards Hankyung. SME is responsible for vague tasks such as "management of the artist's popularity" and natural tasks such as "notifying the artist of new schedules". On the other hand, Hankyung is to follow SME's decisions without question and without having any rights for adjustment of the contract, making the contract unfair for Hankyung, according to the accusation.

Fifth, the contract made Hankyung overwork. He was forced to pay $10 during his training period for his first offense of being late, being absent, disobedience etc. and $20 per offense after. When he could not be contacted for more than a day, SME was given the right to null their contract. After his debut as a member of Super Junior, if his disobedience resulted in damage of less than $5,000 to SME then he was to compensate $5000; if the damage exceeded that amount then he was required to compensate for whatever the damage he caused. He had no right to present his opinion on any matter, and was forced to follow SME's instructions at all times. The accusation says that Hankyung has lost his confidence due to these reasons.

Due to the fifth reason, Hankyung has not been able to rest for a sufficient amount of time since Super Junior's debut. The accusation argues that he hasn't had a break for last 2 years due to his busy schedule. Because the contract enforces heavy financial punishment and automatic extension of the contract length, he had to continue performing in poor health. According to his representatives he suffers from gastritis and kidney problems resulting from high stress, as well as back pain and exhaustion. He frequently asked for a break due to medical reasons but they were all turned down, the accusation claims.

Sixth, he was not given proper rights regarding profit and products of his performance. Rights to all songs and albums belong to SME, even if the song was written by the artist. Profit division was favored towards SME; in case of albums, Super Junior received 2% of the revenue only if the album sold more than 50,000 copies, for digital sales they received 10% of the net profit; for revenue from overseas they were given 60% of net profit. Album sales meant nothing to the artists as 2% of the revenue was divided among 13 members. Digital sales and foreign income were given to artists only when profit was made, allowing SME free from risk of losing money, according to the accusation.

The written accusation against SME argues that due to these 6 reasons, the contract should be voided and Hankyung should be released from his obligations for SME. Stay tuned to allkpop as the case develops.

Chart Champions for the Holidays

The holidays are a time for lovers to explode with fluttering hearts all around them. In k-pop, it's the total opposite. The songs that are sweeping the charts at the moment are all about breaking up.

Bursting with talent, Zia, with her song Have A Drink, is at the top of the Soribada charts for the 3rd week of Decemeber (13th ~ 19th). The song is about a girl who can't forget about her past love, and Zia's admirable voice just makes you plunge into the song...

At second place is the OST for IRIS, Can't I Love You by Seo In Young. I'm sure you all know this song by now, doesn't matter if your a regular IRIS viewer or not.

In third place is cute, but strong voiced, Younha. The song Broke Up Today will be a song you listen to over and over the day you break up with your lover (hence the title).

I was quite surprised by the girl power. The three are all solo artists, and not the usual idol groups. Let's just hope there are more happy couples out there this Christmas. For you sad, brokenhearted people, listen to these songs and cry your eyes out. Maybe you'll feel slightly better (or worse).

Dalgyal (lit. Egg) released a commercial for their eggs on the 23rd and thankfully used the 5 girls to their fullest, showing off their cute side as well as the sexy charisma that makes them so appealing.

The commercial starts off with a sort of nostalgic history of Korea and its eggs (well, nostalgic if you're Korean and over the age of 40) and is pretty yawn invoking until maknae Sohyun's face pops up and starts off the Egg version of Hot Issue.

Mir’s Heartfelt Story About His Father

On December 20th, Mir (MBLAQ) shared a very heartfelt and powerful story about his father on his minihompy.

"When I was a sophomore in middle school, my father suddenly quit both smoking and drinking.
Our family was shocked that my father
who began smoking and drinking in middle school quit so suddenly.
I was curious, so I asked him why he quit.
He replied, "I'm old now, so I have to think about my body.."
I did not think much of it and just left it at that.
Then, it was the morning of my field trip in the Autumn semester.
Since morning, I begged my dad for some allowance,
but my dad strangely said that I didn't need any money for a field trip
and packed my fruits and food at home.
At that young, immature age, I was so embarrassed of my father.
That day, my friend came to pick me up,
and he kept bragging that his father gave him a lot of allowance,
so I persistently begged my father for allowance.
However my father never gave me the allowance and kept
packing food in my bag.
I was so embarrassed in front of my friends that I angrily said I didn't need it
and left. Right when I was about to leave, my father took out 5000 won (app. $5) from his pocket and said,
"I couldn't go to Nonghyup (name of a bank) so I couldn't withdraw any money...Have this, at least.."
I thought the allowance was too small, so
I got angry again and didn't take the money and just left the house.
I was so furious that I called my mother and complained.
My mother who was silently listening carefully told me, "Your father's guarantee failed,
so our household is very in a difficult situation..He couldn't even withdraw 100won from Nonghyup,
so he had to borrow money to send you to school."
Only then, I realized the real reason why my dad quit drinking and smoking, why he was not working these days.
Even though I was on a field trip, I ended up crying the entire day.
That was my first as well as my last rebellious childhood.

My father is a very stubborn father.
He always bluntly called me "Ya" "Chul Yong Ah" and "Bang Chul Yong". I probably heard "What do you want to do when you grow up?" the most.
I heard those words throughout school, but they were very stressful to me. On the day I truly became a singer, October 15th, 2009, after the debut stage, I called my father.

On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, he will hold solo concerts at the Caesar Palace Hotel Coliseum in Las Vegas. The venue seats 3,000 people and he will perform all of his hit songs for his foreign fans.

He has already left on a plane today for Las Vegas and is prepared to hold amazing shows. But there is no time to waste for Rain because right after he is finished with his concerts, he is coming back to Korea to finish working on his latest Asia tour. He has already finished his shows in Hong Kong, Indonesia, and China. In January, he is going to Japan to do an encore performance in Osaka.

Interview with Hankyung’s legal representatives

We've previously reported that Hankyung of Super Junior requested that his contract be voided. Daily Joongang of Korea tried to reach Hankyung but was unable to reach him as he is currently in China. Instead, they were able to speak with his legal representatives...

- We heard that two separate actions were taken.

"To put it simply, the first action seeks to relieve him from the unfair contract and the second action asks to suspend the contract until the decision is made for the first one so that Hankyung may act on his individual will for the time being."

- When did Hankyung start planning on this action?

"We cannot answer that. We can only answer within the boundaries of what is described on the file."

- His arguments are the same as that of the three members of TVXQ / DBSK?

"Very similar. Hankyung also has 13 year contract with unfair terms."

- Did Hankyung have any contacts with the three members?

"We're not sure. He will soon release an official statement so wait for that."

- Has the date for the first trial been decided yet?

"The file did not even fully go through yet. DBSK's case took about two and a half months until a partial ruling was given and we expect about the same amount of time to be taken for this case. DBSK's case had numerous negotiations for settlements and couple trials so it took longer than usual. We hope that Hankyung's case would not be so long."

We reported earlier about group 2PM and their plans to split their earnings with their leader, Jaebeom. Jaebeom (Jay Park), who has been in his hometown of Seattle ever since the break of his scandal, was not involved in the entire making of the "1:59PM" album. But with all of the recent news regarding 2PM, many fans are speculating it is yet another sign of the leader's return.

According to officials

splitting the money with Jaebeom is not ideal, in fact there would be much red tape around it and JYPE would never allow such a thing. But because they have approved the deal, people are thinking that something's up.

Of course, don't think wrong about the boys of 2PM. I'm sure they're doing this out of love but the fact of the matter is, the entertainment group would never had said yes if Jaebeom was not a part of the group. And judging from their performance tributes to the leader, them claiming that 2PM is forever 7 and that Jaebeom is "forever their leader"; come on, it's kind of obvious right?

Hankyung requests to terminate his contract

Looks like SM Entertainment just might lose another star... After the JaeChunSu trio turned their backs against their company in regards to their unfair contract, Hankyung (Hangeng) of Super Junior decided to follow their lead and attempt to opt out as well.

According to a related source in China...

Hankyung filed a request at the Seoul Central District Court to make his contract with SM Entertainment null and void at noon on the 21st.

Hankyung, who is well-known as the only Chinese member in Super Junior, is popular amongst both the Asian youth and media. With his good reputation and talent, many speculated that the singer would go on to have a very successful solo career as well. However, rumor has it that the contract forbade Hankyung from pursuing a solo career, creating a rift that led to this contract termination request.

The press stated,

"No specific details have yet been released towards this termination request. However, it is likely the reason is because of the unfairness the contract holds in regards to Hankyung's personal development."

Currently, Hankyung's legal representative is remaining silent. However, allkpop will be sure to provide further details of this hot news.

SNSD’s trainers clear up their diet

The nine lovely ladies of SNSD are flyin' high these days due to the huge success of their very first solo concert and Asia tour!

Each of the members was able to shine through their individual performances as well as through their group performances, rocking their hot bods for all fans to ogle at. Earlier, we reported how they managed to maintain their sexy figures and I'm sure several of you guys were left speechless at the shocking number of 800 calories a day. However, it seems as though their personal trainers have recently come out to state that the show had exaggerated their calorie intake. They stated

"SNSD's calorie intake is 1200 calories, not 800. These shows tend to exaggerate things."

Their calorie intake has finally been clarified and they all take in the six main nutrients according to their personal metabolism rates. As the girls are prepping themselves for upcoming shows in addition to their regular exercise routines, the girls' reduced calorie intake will not be as drastic.

Sexy member Yuri is often praised for having a very healthy physique and she takes in those 1200 necessary calories a day, divided into four to five meals a day due to her incredibly high metabolism rate. For these meals, Yuri enjoys bananas, bell tomatoes, cabbage, chicken breast, milk, and sweet potatoes. The rest of the members also share similar meal plans as Yuri and undergo the same calorie treatment.

While the members are taking in more calories than initially expected, it's still an extremely alarming number. Hopefully their trainers will be a little more lenient in terms of their calorie intake or else the girls just might burn out, and we definitely don't want to see that happen!

2PM’s Heartbeats for Jaebeom

Jaebeom is physically gone but he is emotionally still by 2PM's side. 2PM members decided to split up the income from their first album with Jaebeom.

One insider said, "In November, 2PM members talked things over with JYP Entertainment before their album release. They all agreed to split up the money earned with Jaebeom. They said that Jaebeom is their leader forever and made the decision."

2PM is not like other groups. Though Jaebeom is not with them to promote their first official album, they still decided to do this for their leader. Because 2PM is staying away from most interviews and all variety shows, this is a way for them to speak out towards Jaebeom publicly.

It's not clear how much money will go to Jaebeom, however, after their promotions end, they will calculate everything at JYP Entertainment and decide the final amount.

SNSD overwhelmed with emotions after first concert

SNSD opened their first ever Asia tour concert on the 19th, after 2 years and 5 months since their debut. As expected, the girls were overjoyed.

During their press conference on the 20th, prior to their second concert performance, the members expressed their feelings.

Tiffany:

"I am so happy. A concert was a wish of all 9 members, and we were able to have one so quickly, we are so happy. We received so much this year, it feels like a dream."

Taeyeon:

"After our rehearsals, I was concerned if we could fill out a concert hall, but at yesterday's opening, the entire concert hall was filled. It was so intriguing. This year because of Gee, we received so much love. We were able to have our first concert and even at the year end award shows, we received good results. We are highly anticipating next year as well and we want to finish off 2009 on a positive note."

Yubin’s weight loss: Good or Bad?

Back when rapper Yoobin joined the Wonder Girls in 2007 for their Tell Me comeback, she gained a lot of popularity and fan love. Of course she's still got much love from the fans but many are worried about her recent weight loss.

In the Tell Me video she's quite skinny, almost stick skinny, and received both positive and negative reviews about her figure. In their So Hot and Nobody comebacks, many people had noticed that Yoobin had put on some extra weight and was looking quite healthy. Yet again, people had mixed feelings on the matter.

As the girls begin to prepare for their U.S. debut, it seems Yoobin has undergone yet another transformation as many Korean netizens are worried that she's lost too much weight too quickly. Fans have been saying things like,

"She used to look so healthy...now her face looks pale." or "She's almost as skinny as Sunmi now..."

Big Bang shoots for FILA and interviews with Entertainment Relay

Many of you know that the boys of Big Bang and official endorsers of Korean Sports Apparel Brand FILA. Well, FILA recently released a new line of jackets and Big Bang had a photo shoot for the new line. KBS2's Entertainment Weekly was on hand for the photo shoot and had a brief interview with the boys.

In the interview they asked G-Dragon if he watches the hit drama IRIS and he said that he does and that he's very curious on what's going to happen in the story. He also mentioned a particular scene where his fellow Big Bang member T.O.P was fighting Lee Byung Hun in Akita, Japan. In the scene, Lee Byung Hun escapes from T.O.P by jumping off a tall dam with a rope and eventually escapes, G-Dragon stated all T.O.P had to do was cut the rope instead of trying to shoot him which drew some laughter. They also asked G-Dragon on which girl he preferred from IRIS, either Kim Tae Hee or Kim So Yeon and he said he preferred Kim So Yeon. Big Bang copycats in China?

Last week we reported about SNSD copycats in China as well as the Thai 2NE1. Though many were not sure whether they was just coincidences, this new clone seems to have a unanimous vote.

This video isn't exactly new and many of you might have already seen it earlier this summer in a previous article. It's a music video of a Chinese singer who is performing a song very similar to Big Bang's Last Farewell. In fact, the beats are so identical, he even calls himself OK-BANG. Not to mention, the music video is practically a duplicate (besides the fact that it's poorly made) so it's almost impossible to pass this off as a cover or a remake. Even though it was known to many in the summer, Korean Netizens have just found this video now.

Netizens have been saying,

"It's ridiculous", "Just how far are they going to go?" and "How could they rip off this much?"

According to Chinese press, the "Korea's idol group training system has now been adapted by Chinese idol groups." Apparently, OK-Bang's entertainment group hired a trainer from Korea to specifically give them the oh so good Korean treatment.

But really, is the Korean training the real reason behind Big Bang's success? Of course it has its role in the matter but it looks like OK-Bang is missing something. Whatever that "x factor" is they better find it fast because as time progresses, more Korean netizens are becoming furious at the near mention of the group.

For once, it's taken netizens longer than usual to discover this, but now that they have, OK-BANG is receiving much negative feedback, but do you agree? Should an artist be able to do what he wants or are there some things in this world that are too sacred to mess with? One thing's for sure, this guy definitely doesn't have the swagger to pull off the Big Bang look. Seriously, who wears leather jackets with spikes and sailor hats anymore?

IRIS Season 2 will unveil itself in 2010

Though IRIS ended this week, it seems like the next season is coming sooner than expected.

A representative for TaeWon Entertainment that worked on IRIS said, "Starting in the first week of January 2010, we will unveil the line up." Talk about moving on fast.

They continued,

We can't reveal too much for now. We want to have a completely different storyline. As soon as the cast is done, we will reveal things step by step. We are keeping our eyes on top stars and we will definitely have a A-lister who is comparable with Lee Byung Hun. We will have the same characters as season 1. The second season maybe will take place 2-4 years after where the first season left off. You can get your hopes up. We also have plans to have a proper sequel 3-4 years later with Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee.

IRIS put a lot of money into keeping the show as good as it was and it all paid off because they had a regular viewer rating of at least 30%. So, are you excited as much as they want you to be?

On Decemeber 17th on MBC's VJ Special, Behind Story, SNSD unveiled their daily meal plans and left fans in shock.

It was revealed that the girls only eat a strict diet of fruits and vegetables. In the morning they eat 200 calories, for lunch they eat 300 calories and for dinner they eat the same 300 calories putting the total at 800 calories a day.

A woman's average diet consists of 2000 calories daily so it's amazing to see that these girls can survive with such little food even with their rigorous dance training and long practice schedules.

The meal plan's main three items were sweet pumpkins, lettuce and cherry tomatoes. When they get hungry in between meals they eat cucumbers. I find this fact ridiculous because when I get hungry between meals, I pick up a bag of chips and eat about their daily worth in calories.

"It is sad to see such beauties not being able to eat as much as they want."
"They probably want to eat whatever they want, so it must be hard"
"Since they have to balance out their nutrients as they do at such a young age, life will be hard later if they don't change their eating habits."

Lee Hyori has been bombarded with CFs, photo shoots, and other modeling activities as she posed and flaunted her stuff for various products. Because she's been so busy with non-music related activities and Hyori's need for perfection in the lyrics of her songs, the date was pushed back. On December 18th, 2009 SM Entertainment idol groups, f(x) and SHINee, celebrated the opening of a new 'Everysing' store located in MyungDong, on the 5th floor of the SPAO store.

Everysing is an SM Entertainment owned music experience store, offering not only karaoke, but an actual storefront where fans can purchase SM artist merchandise, as well as take specialized sticker photos and even eat/drink at the cafe. In addition, future auditions will also take place at this location. And... just in case you don't make the cut, you can still feel like a star by entering the recording booth, choosing a background video and creating your own little music video!

To celebrate this grand opening, f(x) and SHINee members smiled for the cameras and created hand prints, kind of like Hollywood stars do, minus the cement.

IRIS ends with high rating (warning: Major spoilers)

The blockbuster drama KBS IRIS has ended, leaving many mysteries that viewers are dying to find out.

We foresaw that the final episode would reach the 40% ratings mark, which it did. Wednesdays episode had a rating of 35.0% and Thursdays episode reached 39.9%, which is two-fifth of the people in Korea watching.

We reported earlier that

the drama would have a sad ending, instead of the originally planned happy ending. I have to say that I was on the verge of tears while watching the final episode, but at the same time, I was irritated that the drama left so much to think about. The two main characters, Kim Hyun Joon (Lee Byung Hun) and Jin Sawoo (Jung Jun Ho), were both killed off.

The IRIS members had turned on Sawoo, making the two former friends work together. Unfortunately, Sawoo was shot by an IRIS member, leaving Hyun Joon and Seung Hee (Kim Tae Hee) in tears, watching him slowly die.

During the final minutes, Hyun Joon was driving, when he was unsuspectingly shot by a sniper. It showed the car window broken, and Hyun Joon bleeding in the head. He had stopped right infront of the lighthouse, which was where Seung Hee was standing, who had earphones on. She did not see Hyun Joon bleeding in the car nearby, and did not hear the gun sound either. The drama then ended with Hyun Joon looking at her and thinking about the past, showing flashbacks from the earlier episode.

For those of you who saw this scene, I know that you wanted a clear explanation on everything, as we do not know much at all. Who killed Hyun Joon? Why couldnt Seung Hee see someone bleeding right infront of her? Who is Mr. Black? I am hoping that all these will be explained in the upcoming IRIS 2.

Taeyang’s gonna keep it “Real”?

In the January 2010 issue of GQ Korea magazine, there was an article that stated Big Bang's Taeyang will be interviewed for an upcoming issue of the magazine. In this interview, fans can expect to hear the current soloist discuss his music style and concept.

Because of his unique voice, natural musical talent, and ability to leave the crowd wanting more with his polished stage performances, Taeyang was described by the article as a man who was not satisfied with the regular idol image. Finally, perhaps the most important tidbit to mention is that the title of his first studio album will be 리얼 (Real). Who else is excited for that?

To commemorate f(x)'s 100 day anniversary since their debut, a fan made a Simpsons-like cartoon of the girls. This isn't the first time as fans did the same for Big Bang and Kara.

The Simpsons was one of my favorite shows growing up. A cool fact about The Simpsons that most people don't know about is that the show is animated in Korea by Nelson Shin's Akom Production Co., Ltd. Nelson Shin also created the cool glow effect of the light saber in the Star Wars films.

Rainbow Falls, even in practice

The lovely girls of Rainbow had the unfortunate event of having two of their members fall during their performances twice. The reason for this is because of their high heels, it's very hard to do choreography wearing those heels.

2PM's Taecyeon is a lucky man, he's got pretty much every single girl group member chasing after him. I think it's safe to say, he's going to have a Merry Christmas.

On an upcoming episode of KBS' Invincible Youth, the G7 members revealed they were fans of 2PM and chose their favorites.

SNSD's Sunny, T-ara's Hyomin and Kara's Goo Hara were on their way to buy a Christmas tree, after raising money from selling red bean filled bread (찐빵). But when they arrived at the store, they were mesmerized by 2PM socks. They all agreed to pick their favorite member and hang them on the Christmas tree.

SNSD's Sunny chose Taecyeon as her favorite and ideal guy, but so did Goo Hara. And that's when things became interesting, as Sunny pulls Goo Hara aside and threatens her. Goo Hara eventually folds and sadly states that her favorite is Nichkhun. Poor Goo Hara! And Nichkhun too...

On a side note, T-ara's Hyomin chose Wooyoung's sock and gave a little message asking him to come on the show at least once.

T-ara receives a truck load of toilet paper

Girl group T-ara recently came back with the single 뽀삐뽀삐 Bo Beep Bo Beep. Coincidentally, this track title shares the same name with a toilet paper manufacturer in Korea, 뽀삐 (Bo Beep or Poppee).

Through T-ara's unintentional promotion of the company by promoting the song with their namesake, the toilet paper manufacturer wanted to show their gratitude by sending T-ara a truck load full of toilet paper.

A representative from the group stated, "Out of all the gifts we've received, this is by far the most fun / interesting. We received so much toilet paper that we don't need to buy toilet paper for 10 years." T-ara also showed their gratitude and was thankful for the gift.

This is pretty funny, hopefully T-ara enjoys their new gift of no longer having to worry about toilet paper for a long time.

Girl Groups Extravaganza at the Melon Music Awards!

Dang, these boys just get better and better.

At the first annual Melon Music Awards, 2PM had a quick intro with the other songs from the album such as "Tired of Waiting" and "Give me the light."

Then, the fire started with the intro of "My Heart" with Taecyeon which then went into "Heartbeat" and "Again and Again". Although bad mics plagued the performance (poor Taecyeon not being to rap his only part), the boys put on a good performance. There was also a bit of a surprise at the end with a HOT dance break.

2PM was also on the Top 10 of 2009 list and gave a quick but short thank you to Jaebeom.

Lee Minho wants to be in IRIS 2… and a girlfriend?

Kwon Sang Woo isn't the only one who is interested in IRIS Season 2. Recently, Boys Over Flowers star Lee Minho stated that he wanted to participate in IRIS 2 as well. The confession took place during a Q&A session at his fan meeting on December 15th at the Westin Hotel in Taiwan.

Lee Minho stated that he's currently mulling over a couple projects and that he wanted a more mainly-type role, such as that of a character in IRIS. He also stated that he would

Translated as "singing room," noraebang is Korean karaoke, an activity that is incredibly popular in Korea for all ages. Usually there is a cheesy scenic video, which is completely irrelevant to the song itself, that is played on screen as you sing. I've seen everything from '80s European vacation videos to poopiness a small naked boy with his wang out playing in the ocean. It doesn't even matter if you can sing or not because there is no judgment made inside noraebangs. Plus, you'd be too drunk to even notice you or any other person is singing off-key or off-tune.

feelTONG, an online karaoke website, monitored the most played song at these frequently visited noraebangs from January 1 to December 9. The results of the poll declared Lee Eun Mi's I Have a Lover as the winner.

If the name doesn't ring a bell, you have most likely heard a rendition of it performed by your favorite idol group. Countless artists have done a cover of I Have a Lover so it is only reasonable that the timeless song is a favorite of the nation as well.

T-ara & Davichi & SeeYa reunite for Women’s Generation 2

Do you remember the collaboration of Women's Generation between T-ara's Ji Yeon, SeeYa, and Davichi last May? Well, they are collaborating once again for Woman's Generation 2!

SeeYa, including a new member, Soo Mi, has been getting lots of love from the fans with the group's latest track, His Voice. Davichi had a few hit-songs in the year of 2009, including 8282, Hot Stuff and I Made an Accident. T-ara debuted this year, and has seen success with their songs Lies, T.T.L / T.T.L 2 with Supernova, and now Bo Peep Bo Peep.

This time, the Women's Generation group members will be SeeYa's Lee Bo Ram & Soo Mi, duo from Davichi, and T-ara's Hyomin & Eun Jung - a total of 6 members.

Taeyeon speaks about stepping down as leader

We previously wrote about SNSD / Girls' Generation member Taeyeon and her possible departure as leader of the group on SBS Kang Shim Jang / Strong Heart. Well, the episode has finally aired.

On the December 15th episode, Taeyeon talked about how it's so hard to control all 9 people as leader, it's a burden. She also stated that she's a very sensitive person so it's even harder for her to manage. She also talked about an incident.

The incident was where the girls gathered together for a 5 minute talk / meeting. During this talk, everyone looked at her and asked her why she's not talking with the rest of the group lately. They said, "What's up with you?" Which caused Taeyeon to go to her room and start crying. Sooyoung went into Taeyeon's room and wanted to console and talk to her. During this chat, Taeyeon said, "Ok, that's it. SNSD will no longer have a leader." When they shared this information with the rest of the girls, the girls all agreed and said that's fine / cool. They already assumed as if the group were acting without an official leader anyways. Taeyeon then said to the audience, "I thought the girls were going to say... NO! Please still be our leader but they didn't..." After she said that the audience had a big laugh. However, as they continued talking the members eventually said that Taeyeon should still be leader, but it seems she has a heavy burden on her shoulders as leader.

After this, Eun Jin Won aka G-One called her out by saying, "Taeyeon already knows she's still going to be leader, nothings going to change."

After that, there were some jokes headed towards Taeyeon, confirming that Taeyeon isn't stepping down but rather, she was just thinking about doing so. Hopefully the girls help her out in the near future so it's not so much of a burden.

SNSD and Super Junior release Seoul Song!

Korea's Ministry of culture, sports and tourism was serious when they stated that they were in full support of spreading K-pop and Korea to the world! We reported early this morning that f(x) and Epik High would be attending MIDEM to put on a K-pop showcase and now it seems other artists are pushing this movement as well.

SNSD + Super Junior have teamed up to create a song about Seoul, Korea. One of the coolest cities in the world, if I might add... the food, culture, shopping, and most importantly the $2 bottles of soju make me love visiting Korea!

Jaebeom wins first place at B-boy competition

Another video of Jaebeom dancing at a B-boy competition recently surfaced. The ex-leader of 2PM was seen dancing with his dance crew AOM (Art of Movement) at the Winter Nights competition in Seattle. Well, Nate News is reporting that Jaebeom and his dance crew actually won the event.

In the finals, Jaebeom and AOM faced off against R.M/S.R.C (Rhythmic Motions) (Soul Rebelz). Jaebeom and AOM came out of the battle victorious. Congratulations to Jaebeom and AOM, it's good seeing him having fun and doing what he loves to do. Remember to visit the 2ONEDAY Forums.

What happened to 2PM beast Taecyeon?!

Pictures of him morphed into each member of SNSD surfaced the web recently and have netizens laughing non-stop.

The crazy thing about those pictures is that when I first took a glance, I thought it was a picture of the actual members! Maybe it's the power of Photoshop, but his face fits perfectly into each member... it's kind of freaky.

I guess a girl group could've been Taecyeon's second choice to joining 2PM because it sure suits him. Though many people have pointed out that

Yuri one looks the most alike, I think he looks like Taeyeon or Seohyun the most.

Netizens have titled this "Ok nyeo shi dae," switching the 'so' of So Nyeo Shi Dae (Girls' Generation) to Ok, Taecyeon's last name.

This is especially funny because Taecyeon is widely known for his charismatic image on stage. I'm sure he'd crack up at this photo too.

Taeyeon is stepping down from her position as a leader?

As some of you may have heard, there were rumors about SNSD's leader, Taeyeon, possibly stepping down from her position as a leader.

On a recent recording of SBS Strong Heart, Taeyeon finally talked about the rumor and it seems to not be a rumor at all!

She commented:

I have never talked about this in a broadcast before. I will be revealing this for the first time in Strong Heart. I have stepped down from my position as SNSD's leader. ... It isn't easy to lead all 9 nine members of SNSD. ... Recently, there was a crucial incident which happened in our dorm...

SNSD’s “Gee” is the MV of the year

That's right, SNSD's Gee, which has been seen by millions of people, has been declared as the music video of the year by GOM TV's GOM Music Chart (GMC)!

Nine of the ten spots in the Top 10 were taken by idol groups, mainly 2NE1, Brown Eyed Girls, and 2PM. From the Top 10, eight of the spots were taken by girl groups, proving that the year of 2009 was indeed the year of girl groups.

SNSD's Gee had over 100 million view counts on GOM TV and maintained their first place status over a period of 10 weeks on GOM's MV charts. SNSD's Tell Me Your Wish also ranked 9th in the Top 10, which further proved these girls to be one of, if not the best, girl group of the year.

Following Gee was G-Dragon's Heartbreaker. Heartbreaker had nearly 90 million views and had a 6 week domination period in 1st place on the MV charts. 2NE1's Fire was right behind Heartbreaker, claiming 3rd place. 2NE1 proved that they were worthy of the title "Rookie of the Year," as their Lollipop and I Don't Care also took their own spots, each ranking 4th and 8th respectively.

Following 2NE1, Brown Eyed Girls took 5th place with their MV for Abracadabra, which accumulated around 88 million view counts. The 6th place was taken by Son Dambi's Saturday Night/ She was the only one who was not in a idol group. 2PM's Heartbeat, which was released quite recently compared to the rest, took 7th place. Kim Hyun Joong revisits Egg Tart Store from Boys Over Flowers, SS501 in Hong Kong

If you you watched the hit drama Boys Over Flowers before, you would know that Kim Hyun Joong and the Boys Over Flowers gang had a brief stint in Macau, the home of billion dollar casinos, gambling, and entertainment. In one of the episodes Kim Hyun Joong and Goo Hye Sun briefly visited a Egg Tart Store.

It seems Kim Hyun Joong is fond of the egg tarts. SS501 recently held a concert in Hong Kong on December 12th and after the concert Kim Hyun Joong spent some time in Macau and at the very same Egg Tart Store that was featured in the show. He was recently spotted there with his family eating:

Last week we showed a preview that SS501 was going to do Kara's famous butt dance on the December 11th edition of Intimate Note. The full episode aired and just like in the preview, they shook their moneymakers.

Actually, the two DSP Entertainment groups got together and did each others dances. So Kara wasn't the only one watching and they did SS501's dance routine to Love Like this. It's good seeing the two groups interact with each other, hopefully there will be more of this in the near future.

Jaebeom Seen Again in Another B-boy Video

Just recently, another video of Jaebeom b-boying has surfaced on the net. The ex-leader of 2PM can be clearly seen on the sidelines with his dance crew Art of Movement and dances at 1:35.

Uploaded on the 13th, the video shows Art of Movement having a dance battle with another crew, Stale Moves. Thanks to the high quality of the video, Hottests will instantly recognize Jaebeom in it. For those of you who still can’t spot him, he enters @0:11 and @0:33 wearing the same black beanie as the previous dance battle video few weeks back.

Fans are relieved to see Jaebeom having fun with his crew and coping well with his old lifestyle.

Celebrate f(x)‘s 100th day anniversary!

It's been exactly 100 days since f(x) debuted and the girls wanted to thank their fans for all love + support with this cute little clip.

Within these short 100 days, f(x) has gained an enormous fan base with their songs La Chata and Chu~♡. In addition, they already had a major CF deal with LG and the release of Chocolate Love. Not to mention that f(x) was chosen to represent k-pop to the WORLD at MIDEM 2010 - WOW! Although f(x) is off to a great start, I expect to see even more from Asia's Pop Dance Group in the new year (hopefully a good song), so let's all give the girls a round of applause for their achievements.

Popular girl group members, Narsha (Brown Eyed Girls), Sooyoung (SNSD), Nicole (Kara) and Hyuna (4minute) will be joining in on the pilot episode of SBS' new program "Oh! Brothers."

Oh! Brothers is a replacement of the popular game concept show Xman, which has been off air for nearly 3 years. Oh! Brothers will be hosted by Kim Gook Jin and is already garnering lots of interest, because everyone misses Xman and the appearance of the four beautiful ladies mentioned above doesn't hurt either.

In addition to the ladies, Nam Hee Suk, Yoo Sae Won, Kang Ji Sup, Kim Tae Woo, Super Junior's Lee Teuk, SHINee's Minho, Chae Yeon and Kim Shin Young, will be on the show forming 6 teams.

The SNSD leader said today on Chin Chin Radio,

In 5th grade, I had a best friend. I connected with her and we shared a lot of things in common. We were both a bit spacey and loved to sing. We attended the same middle school as well so we worked hard in our own classes but then she had to transfer to another school. One day on the street, I ran into her. It was in Seoul, which was surprising. After that, I saw her more while walking home from practicing (for debut). But we still lost touch because we spent less time with each other than we did apart. JYP wants to work with Lee Hyori

Despite revealing that he wished to temporarily 'quit' as a producer and focus more on his singing by next summer, Park Jin Young has revealed that he wants to produce for singer Lee Hyori.

Park Jin Young recently filmed the Park Jin Young and Friends episode of Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Won Hee's Come to Play, in which Kim Hyung Suk, Danny Ahn, Lee Jung Jin, Son Ho Young and Jo Kwon also appeared as guests.

In the show's corner titled My Rankings 1, 2, 3, Park Jin Young revealed that

a singer he would really like to produce for was Lee Hyori. He stated,

Producing is most fun when you not only come up with a new dance move and song, but when you can change everything, including the artist's hairstyle. But I can only try various attempts of a concept with a solo female singer.

JYP also stated,

I haven't been able to do any producing for female solo artists after Park Ji Yoon and Ivy. But if I had to pick someone who would be able to fully absorb and pull off the concept I produce them, from currently active female celebrites, I think Lee Hyori would be the best fit.

Whoa, JYP plus Hyori... now there's an interesting thought. What do you think?

Recently, there have been several instances where 2PM and T-ara have promoted each other on music programs, leading to the speculation that the support for both idol groups might be... intentional?

On Music Core on Saturday, T-ara performed their comeback song Bo Peep Bo Peep as usual.

However, during Hyomin's solo dance in the middle of the performance, she imitated Taecyeon's tidbit from 2PM's Heartbeat choreography.

At the same time, the verdict of the male voice responsible for singing along to the introduction of T-ara's Bo Peep Bo Peep and, thus, disturbing the sextet's performance was identified earlier as Junsu, 2PM's very own vocalist.

Need more evidence, you say?

On SBS Inkigayo, Wooyoung proposed a revolutionary change in 2PM's image--from "beastly idols" to "cute idols." He then proceeded to mirror T-ara's dance from Bo Peep Bo Peep sporting the giant paw on his hand.

Although Taecyeon yelled at Wooyoung to maintain his role as a MC, he eventually joined in on the fun by wagging his tail while singing T-ara's addictive song.

Their adorable antics may have been part of the script that MCs must follow to introduce artists. However, Taecyeon appeared on stage at the end of the show to announce the winner of Take 7 with one of T-ara's many props in his hand again.

He even performed the encore stage with the giant paw and attempted T-ara's choreography once more with his cute beastly charisma.

Are you convinced yet?

In my humble opinion, I wouldn't mind seeing 2PM and T-ara covering each other's song, especially since they have expressed their familiarity with it already. Furthermore, both groups currently have 6 members so the parts can be divided up easily. I approve of the potential T-PM collaboration!

Aside from 2PM's Heartbeat dance, Hyomin has incorporated the choreography of other idol groups into T-ara's performances as well--among which are U-Kiss' Man Man Ha Ni and SHINee's Ring Ding Dong. Check them out below.

2PM claims Inkigayo Mutizen triple crown

With 2PM winning the Mutizen award on the past two editions of Inkigayo, will they go on to claim another or will someone come from behind to take their place?

On the 13th December episode of Inkigayo, 5 out of the seven Take 7 nominees performed - 2PM with Heartbeat, After School with Because of You, IU with Marshmallow, U-Kiss with Man Man Ha Ni and f(x) with Chu~♡. Brown Eyed Girls and K.Will were not performing.

And just like the previous weeks, it was yet another win for the 2PM boys who got their third and final Mutizen award on the 557th episode of Inkigayo. The boys had been on a roll since their delayed comeback with Heartbeat and their fans have been loving seeing them perform on stage ever since.

The "deaths" are getting better and better as well - there's even a hurricanrana, a grapple-like move with Taecyeon and Junho, at the end of the performance!

During their encore, the group performed with a twist as Taecyeon danced with a Bo Peep Bo Peep paw... guess the 2PM boys really like that song!

SNSD Yoona’s skirt gets sold for nearly $2000

SNSD's Yoona's skirt got auctioned for around $1720 at a charity auction.

The starting bid was at around $1 but somehow it managed to go way over its starting price. No surprise there since it's Yoona we're talking about.

Yoona wore this skirt in the Tell Me Your Wish music video. She even signed the waistline part of the skirt herself to make it all the more special.

At the same auction,

Tiffany's hoodie was auctioned for nearly $1000. Seohyun's shorts went for $800. Sooyoung's belt sold for $400. Because of the great sales, the SNSD items took 1st-4th place of the best selling item list in terms of prices.

Other stars' items were also auctioned off, including Park Tae Hwan's swim cap and Park Ji Sung's signed trophy ball. But the prices of these didn't come close to the winning price for Yoona's skirt.

The auction was on a website and it lasted for five days with 2546 bidders. The stars' items raised about $4700 in total. It's kind of ridiculous that Yoona made up a fourth of that.

I totally understand that Yoona is popular and all but looking at the skirt, I can't believe someone would pay that much for it.

2NE1 is debuting in Thailand?!

It's been a long time coming, but they're here now, and they're about to set the roof on fire. Earlier today we introduced the Chinese Girls' Generation, and now we have a Thai 2NE1. Two copycats in one day? Now we're talking!

Half way into the teaser I kinda expected them to sing "Eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh. We're 2NE2!" Get it? "We're 2NE too!" However, the group is actually called Candy Mafia and this teaser is for their new song "Mafia". Well, they probably are the mafia because stealing is a crime yo. Although I have to say, Candy Mafia is a really cute name. It's almost as cute as Panty Mafia, almost.

I don't think anyone can deny the fact that they're copying 2NE1's Fire (space version) music video. They even have four members just like 2NE1 does. Although I'm having a hard time figuring out who's supposed to be CL and who's supposed to be Minzy since Candy Mafia doesn't have any obviously ugly members. Haha I'm only joking Blackjacks. There's no need to curse me out, call me ugly, and spit on my face. That's what my mom is for.

It seems that they don't just like 2NE1, but are also quite fond of 4Minute as well. Here's a video of them dancing to 4Minute's Muzik.

I thought the dance was flawless, but then again I'm only judging it based on their ability to do the chest pop. Girls seem to always underestimate the power of a chest pop. You won't believe the kind of things you can get away with just by popping out your chest. Pulled over for speeding? Pop out your chest. Want a promotion? Pop out your chest. No money for lunch? Pop out your chest. Can't win an argument? Pop out your chest. Computer has a virus? Pop out your chest!

All in all, I personally don't care about Candy Mafia copying 2NE1, as long as they pay royalties to the original. In fact, I think it's actually a good thing because chances are we're never going to see 2NE1 expanding into Thailand. Also, it's not like I can fault the girls of Candy Mafia for the plagiarism either because they probably had no say in it. I mean just like most Kpop idols, they too just wanted to be stars. And pursuing your dreams is something I can definitely respect.

SNSD Copycats in China?!

A Chinese group very, maybe too similar to Korea's proud Girls' Generation is making headlines!

This Chinese group is called Idol Girls, and they are consisted of 9 girls. Okay, so the number of members can easily be the same, right? But that's not it. According to a Chinese site, the Idol Girls are an average of 18 years old, and are supposedly talented not only as singers, but as actresses, models, MCs and more.

Meanwhile, cosplay cover groups other than the Idol Girls are making even the Girls' Generation fans do a double take because of the amazing similarity.

So how similar is too similar? Look for yourself. A cover group is seen here posing in similar clothes to SNSD's "Tell Me Your Wish" days!

Remember last August when a Chinese singer was called out for copying Girls' Generation's choreography? They were so similar that netizens started calling the dance not even a copy, but a parody. Regarding the group in general, Chinese netizens had commented, "If the Koreans saw, they would burst out laughing. I'm embarrassed."

Girls' Generation and the Korean netizens may feel bad, but don't forget!
Imitation is the sincerest flattery after all.

Girl Power! SNSD, 2NE1, Brown Eyed Girls & Kara to perform together!

The Melon Awards are going to have a special treat for the fans of the girl groups. The girls groups SNSD / Girls' Generation, 2NE1, Brown Eyed Girls, and Kara are scheduled to have a joint stage mega girl power performance. Currently there isn't much information beyond that (what songs being performed, etc.), but I'm very excited about it!

Rainbow Puts it up with Just Dance

Rookie girl group Rainbow made an appearance on Maybee's Volume Up Radio on December 11th, 2009 and performed a live set.

Rainbow performed "Let's Put it Up" from their Gossip Girl mini album and Lady Gaga's "Just Dance."

I love the smooth relaxing melody of Let's Put it Up and their cover of Just Dance wasn't too shabby either. Despite a few hilarious stage mishaps, these ladies are improving. Give these rookies a chance and you just might get hooked!

SNSD Tiffany’s new look

The special event aired in place of the originally scheduled weekly music program, MBC Music Core.

During one of her lectures, the topic of Jaebeom leaving 2PM due to netizen reaction was brought up.

JYP wants to resign as CEO?

JYP (Park Jin Young) revealed on SBS Power FM's Park So Hyun's Love Game radio show that he wishes to quit producing and only sing by summer time next year.

On the radio broadcast he said:

It feels good to be back on the radio after such a long time. I'm so happy I can sing the songs that I like and that people recognize me as a musician and not just as a producer and CEO. I really only want to be a musician next year.

JYP delivered the good news of the popularity that the Wonder Girls have gotten after appearing on FOX TV's So You Think You Can Dance. He also chose this particular radio show to appear on because Park So Hyun has been a good friend of his since his debut 15 years ago.

My dream is to retire my duties as a boss in June. I've already sort of stopped my duties as the boss of JYP Asia and instead, I've been working as JYP USA. I've been very busy in America with my duties as a road manager. I want to finish up activities of all JYP artists by June and just focus on dancing and singing. I want to just spend the rest of my life making music. I'm most happy when I perform as a musician.

SNSD dominates K-Pop in 2009

Now that this year is coming to a close, it’s time to pick the best artist of 2009! And can you guess who won? No, it was not 2PM nor any other boy band. Idol girl group SNSD was picked as Korea’s #1 Artist of 2009!

Today on the airing of MBC’s ‘Section TV Entertainment News,’ SNSD rose to the #1 spot, surpassing the Wonder Girls with their hit song ‘Gee.’ They also garnered much attention from their other hit single ‘Tell Me Your Wish (Genie).’

Kara’s Park Gyuri plans to make it big

On the December 11th episode of SBS Intimate Note, Kara's sexy leader Park Gyuri revealed her future goals and ambitions as she showed a very bold side of herself.

When asked where she sees herself in 10 years, she replied:

I'll be very busy. In 10 years I'll be 32 years old and I probably wouldn't have married yet. After making a name for myself in the media, I'll explode on the scene like Jang Dong Gun and Ko So Young (love relationship).

Gyuri seemed awfully confident about her abilities and where her future was headed as she continued on boasting, "I'm quite talented. I'm a singer but I also write and draw..." revealing that she is a woman of many talents. A little humor of selfishness was also shown when she said, "I'm sure my company is already thinking the same thing."

When the same questions were asked to the other members of Kara, Seungyeon replied, "In 10 years I'll be a married housewife and tend to my husband." Nicole said that her dream was to be married and to open up a bakery. Although the two don't have goals as ambitious as Gyuri, it's still nice to see that everyone has an idea of where they're heading in life.

4minute and BEAST to perform together

Lotte, one of South Korea's largest conglomerates recently updated their website stating that Cube Entertainment's 4minute and BEAST will be performing together at the opening of one of their department stores.

The store that's opening is in Gwangbok-dong Busan and will take place on December 15th from 6PM - 8PM. It's cool that they will be performing together, hopefully they'll have more interactions with each other on the stage.

Super Junior and SNSD celebrates together

SM Entertainment groups Super Junior and Girls' Generation / SNSD, who recently collaborated for Seoul Song got together recently and celebrated after a successful evening for both parties at the 2009 Golden Disk Awards. Super Junior won the award for Disk Daesang while SNSD won the award for Digital Daesang.

After the award show, the two groups took off their makeup, wore casual clothing and showed up at a Korean BBQ Galbee 2 story restaurant in the Gangnam district of Seoul. About 50 total people showed up and they reserved the whole 2nd floor to themselves. There was a lot of crying and hugging between the two groups as they showed a brother-sister type bond at the late-night meal celebration.

Usually there would be a lot of alcohol with soju, beer, and wine served for such an occasion, but because of the combination of the Kangin incident, under-aged members, and Super Junior having to get ready for a concert in Naning, China on December 12th, they decided to do cheers with regular soda drinks instead. The total bill for the food totaled around $1400. SM representative Kim Young Min along with TVXQ member Yunho also joined in on the festivities and congratulated both groups. Fans of both groups waited until 3AM at the entrance of the restaurant to get a glimpse of their idols. Because of the dedication shown by these fans, some Super Junior members went out to greet them, give handshakes, and autographs.

After School covers Beyonce

The pretty girls of After School appeared on the radio program SuKiRa earlier today and showed off their vocals.

On the program, Kahi, Jung Ah, Raina, and Bekah covered Beyonce's hit single Irreplaceable. The girls did a good job for the most part, but I must admit that they sounded a bit off at times with a little dose of engrish.
